Up to the 11th April the yearly annual exhibit and sales exhibit runs in Kunsthaus Kannen. We present approx. 300 works from over 50 Outsider artists of the house as well as by guest‘s artists from Germany and Europe. There are shown a variety of objects, drawings and paintings from spiritually hindered or chronically psychically ill Artists. This kind of Art, away from the established art company, is entitled as „Outsider Art“ or „Art Brut“.

An art project in collaboration with the Alexianer hospital and the postgraduate study class from the academy of pedagogic arts Munich. The art project „initialzündung“ from the 11th to the 25th of April 2010, follows a process-orients
beginning. Besides, a special attention should be laid on the prozesuale strength of the formative action. The artists will step in contact with inhabitants and initiate a common creative action about the experience of different places and tracking down individual stories.

Outsider Art from Amsterdam

In cooperation with the gallery Hamer in Amsterdam, the arhouse Kannen shows pictures, drawings and ceramics from different art studios from the Netherlands. Moreover from sixty to eighty pictures and twenty objects are issued. Since 1996 the art house Kannen in Münster works together with Dutch museums, galleries and artist. This exhibit gives a topical look about the Dutch outsider art.

At the yearly sales exhibit approx. 140 works of 40 outsider artists will be presented. The works of the famous artists of the house, watercolors, drawings and objects, are complemented with works of promising young talents and guests who present their works for the first time in this exhibit. The pictures and objects of the exhibit are for sale.

With the project „ a nose is growing “ the popular subject is taken up by Gerd Schippel, artist of the Kunsthaus Kannen. In his free time he deals with the history of Pinocchio. The exhibition gives you the opportunity to get an insight into the picture world of Gerd Schippel. A conversation circle with the house community Bernhard Poether takes place on Sunday 14th March at 11 o‘clock in the Hiltruper museum. On the topic “18 years living in town”.

On Saturday the 8th of August 2010 the association of Art-Obscura arranges the “second Broicher castle night “. Within the scope of this arrangement integrative art and culture are presented. This includes theatre - and musicacts and an art exhibition in collaboration with the Kunsthaus Kannen. The exhibition itself takes place in the inner courtyard of a medieval castle.

On the occasion of the nationwide art competition of the Bodelschwinghschen institutions in Bethel a travel-exhibition with well-chosen exhibits takes place. All artistically active people with a mental handicap were invited to submit contributions on the subject „ the life circle – from birth to death and beyond it „. Michael Gude, artist of the Kunsthaus Kannen in Münster, is one winner of the competition. His picture, as well as 29 other works of different artist, are shown by the opening of the travel-exhibition on the 13th of April in the city library of Bielefeld.

Euward is the first and up to now only honouring of the international meaning which appreciates works of unknown still outsiders far away in artistic quality. In consideration of the positive resonance on this unusual art award became euward in the years 2002, repeated in 2004 and 2007.
